QUEER/GAY-FRIENDLY CERTIFICATION


With QLife Certification Service we provide an opportunity for businesses to train their staff in the field of queer/gay travelling.

Businesses that receive a QLife's Certificate and/or ”QLife Recommends” status have fulfilled our criteria required for a queer/gay-friendly business and this way demonstrate that they are committed to offer excellent customer service. We charge an annual fee for the use of our certificates. QLife has a strict service quality control policy and we reserve the right to suspend the certification in the case if the service provider in question acts against our criteria.

Certified services can use the certificates in their marketing and communications and are also included both in QLife's Country-Specific Website and in QLife's own list of queer/gay-friendly services. 

The certification process can be included with training courses as well as customer expectation and service analyses.


Know-how, the key to queer/gay-friendly service production

A queer/gay-friendly service offers quality service to all customers regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation or other aspects.

A customer-oriented perspective is the starting point here; the desire to give the best possible service experience to the customer. Diversity should be regarded as an asset and customers should leave the service situation feeling that they have received equal treatment.

Service resources need to be constantly developed and the whole organisation must take part in the process. The service provider is responsible for ensuring that the whole organisation is deferential towards diversity.  


Queer/gay-friendly certification criteria

  • each customer receives equal treatment
  • the service situation is discrimination-free 
  • Customers get comprehensive service. Each member of the service personnel should be able to provide information on local queer/gay life and services, about diversity issues in the Finnish society or at least know where reliable information can be found.
  • Adequate queer/gay service training is provided for the employees. Also, additional services (service networks etc.) and products (gay guides etc.) are made available to the customers.
  • No form of discrimination is tolerated from the part of the personnel or customers.
  • All unsuitable behaviour is dealt with immediately.
